Fish Tank as a Mini Greenhouse – Part Two

Thu, Sep 27, 2012

Videos

This is a quick Survival Podcast video to show you the effects of using a fish tank as a mini greenhouse on the growth of lettuce. It has been about 3 weeks since the first video and I have cut the lettuce at least 7 times. The morning that this video was shot the ground was frozen solid. Tonight we expect sleet/ice/snow mix. Tomorrow I will still be eating from this little lettuce patch. If you haven’t seen the first video you can see it here www.youtube.com Make sure to visit the Survival Podcast for our daily podcast on prepping and self sufficiency at www.thesurvivalpodcast.com

This is a very nice greenhouse. I used some plastic that use for covering books as my greenhouse and it did well. The reason that the other plant is larger than one outside is that the temperature inside is higher trigging the cell to perform faster. Also it retain moist, so like having a 24/7 water.

Cool idea, now I know what to do with the grubby old empty fish tank that has been sitting there taking up space in our garage for the past year!

When I saw your last fish tank green house video I started building one of my own. I’ll be able to configure it to grow green in winter, using plastic sheeting and in summer by throwing a layer of cheese cloth over the top and removing the plastic, making it cooler inside. It’s nearly finished and I’m looking forward to putting it into use.

    Hey Yankkeprepper,
Any information you might be able to provide where I could get my hands on some Adzuki Beans? My wife and I are aching to try some adzuki burgers.
    Thanks

If it’s all right with you, I am going to leave it just the way it is and do monthly updates on the health of my tactical mudflaps. This will be my first update: Took it UP NORTH into muddy clay dirt country and it rained everyday for 4 days in a row. 5th day dry, Mudflaps A-OK and worked perfect.

damn it! you didn’t say “inna Survival Situation” ten times or put cute little faggy subtitles making subtle homopornographic suggestions about Glocktards.
    You’re such an amateur!

only 1 suggestion put a L bracket from outer bolt to top of bumper (just to rest on bumper) to help hold the weight of all the mud that will stick to mud flap and prevent it from bending under the weight.
