my uncle chuck got shot in the eye when he was 12, he and his brother were fooling around and thought the gun wasn’t loaded… it was the bullet to this day is lo0dged in his braine and he lost an eye otherwise he is fine no real brain damage. the point? 22 leathality is a bit hit or miss
Also for the record you’re correct, more people die every year from .22LR gun shot wounds than any other. The real issue is, do they die quick enough to end the
the fight before killing you. To 90% getting shot is enough, the other determined 10% might kill you before they die. Food for thought. I once had a Vietnam Vet bro. who put a .22 pistol to his temple, and pulled the trigger. The bullet skimmed over the top of his skull, & cured his migraines W/O killing him. LOL! Yup it happens. LOL!
You are right on the money bro. My wife is recoil, and noise sensititve, so for some time the .22LR out of either the Ruger 1022 or the Browning Buckmark were all I could get her to shoot. I had to find a compromise. 9mm pistol she down right rejected on the noise factor, so I went to a 9mm carbine in the Hi-point, and it was love at first sight/shot. For her personal carry weapon she has acclimated well to the NAA in .22LR for her morning dog walks. My concealed carry is 1911A1 & .357 colt )
If I was a manufacturer, I will make hicap 22 pistols, holds anywhere 25 to 35 rounds in the mag. Kel Tec PMR30 is a great example, but they also need to make one version for 22lr.
.22 lr Ammo is also cheap to practice with. U almost need to 2nd morgage your house to be able to afford to practice enough to count on with your more potent centerfire caliber ammo.
The weakness of rimfires in general, is reliability. Some .22′s have a tendency to jam at the worst times. Make sure you test your gun to find reliable ammo and magazines for it, before you rely on it to protect your life. One nice thing about .22lr is that premium ammo is still pretty cheap.
the deuce-deuce rocks in many aspects; home defence, camping or hardcore survival, takes many game animals, lightweight, all hunting supply shops have ‘em, they’re friggin’ cheap. I have break barrels, bolt-actions and semiautomatic handguns and rifles. they’re my favorite round.
If the .22 lr wasnt effective, the israeli police would not be using them. More people are killed by israeli police from the .22 lr on a daily basis than any caliber combined. Right now they are using the smith wesson mp 15 22 as their primary.
I find it funny because in my entire life, their was two shootings myself along with a friend withnessed.
When I was in Phili, a drug dealer walked up to another (rival gang member) and shot him twice in the chest with a 22 caliber pistol. Lone behold he was dead where he stood(I along with my friend witnessed it).
Whereas, yet again in Phili, I has the bad luck of watching a gang member shot once in the face, and once in the lung with a .357 revolver. The man was able to run several blocks.
You do realize that the bullet that punctured Reagan’s lung, causing heavy internal bleeding, was actually a ricochet? Hinckley missed with all 6 shots of that .22LR revolver. But the ricochet was enough to bust through Reagan’s chest and get within 1 inch of his heart, causing massive trauma that would have killed the president without such prompt medical attention. Had Hinckley put 1 or more .22LR directly into Reagan’s chest, he would have met the same fate as Bobby Kennedy.
You missed my point. An experienced shooter with a larger caliber is more likely to win a gunfight than someone with equal experience using a pea-shooter .22. If I had to stand in front of a guy and get shot with a .22 or a 45, I would chose the .22 because its FAR more likely that I will survive – the statistical curve I described. Anyone that argues different argues against the laws of physics and ballistics. 22s are lethal, but they do not incapacitate fast enough for self defense use.
Ronald reagan also survived shots from a 22lr. Ive sen deer and pigs killed with a 22 and ive seen deer run away and never be found by .308 we can do this all day. when dealing with firearms ther are too many variables and shot placement is key.

Yes. I’ve seen several human skulls opened up during autopsies. Google “Police bullet bounces off skull of murder suspect Daniel Tice”

Would you mind blacking out the patients name and posting the x-ray so we can all get a good study at it?
Everyone’s full of shit these days and that x ray would shut so many people up for once and for all….

when it comes to defending your home, a .22LR will kill and for sure shoots better than no gun at all!

Love NAAs, but we don’t have a lot of selection of NAA models here in CA.

A 22. LR will kill you maybe not always quickly, but you will die without medical treatment.

That’s true…but most home invaders are probably not going to be very well trained in the use of most hand guns.
