@C1I1N2 You are absolutly right….if you don’t use your food storage and rotate it you are just throwing away food……BUT, if you have car insurance and don’t get in an accident are you throwing away money? Not really you were purchasing “insurance” in case of an accident. Same with food storage. It is ALWAYS better to eat and rotate your storage, but it never really goes to waste.

@thatfukinfreakshow Well the “woods” are 40 miles from my house. And if you think you are gonna go “Rambo” and live in the forest after the SHTF you’re are sadly mistaken.

@C1I1N2 or kill u and eat u lol this is the kind of thinking we need i got like 3 months or so of canned and dry stored food i rotate it when i shop but in the big pitcure get some guns and go live in the woods get a book on edible plants in ur area get some guns knives and real survival gear because people will burn ur house down then what with ur years supply of food up in smoke just like ur house survival gear is not food its having what u need to stay off this grid

stop watering grass and grow some yes i have a good supply of food but still think ur better off moving out into the middle of nowere and living off the land its not as hard as people think and then when shit does hit the fan ur already prepared and far outside of the riots and canniblism that will follow !!!

I don’t think u get it.. Even of the food last for 20 year or more.. If u don’t eat the food by then you are wasting it… So point is we won’t run out of food… There will be always something to eat no mater what most of everything can be eating.. Fish, you can plant garden, eat leafs, drink water from a well.. So only get food when u need.. Ur just brainwashed to think someday there will be no food. And you know what if that happened people would just kill you for your food.

@C1I1N2 Dehydrated, and freeze dried food can last for a very long time, I’ve seen some cases where it was fine about 20 years later.

Man I’ve only got about 1 and a half months of actual food storage (not counting the canned stuff that we have for normal stuff) but I am expanding it a little at a time and thank god that if I don’t complete it in time, I live in a very rural area and I can go and hunt and probably trade with those who own large farms.

My family all think I’m nuts as well…Now, when they see me stocking up, I just tell them I’m afraid food prices are going to go high that I won’t be able to afford to eat . That satisfies them, I just continue on my way; and I’m buying extra for them on the sly too.

if you believe this guy, then your an idiot! whats the worst thing that can happen to you by being prepared??? you end up with too much food, water, guns and ammo. So what is so bad about that?? It’s a piece of mind that we all should be prepared for any natural disasters. Now ask yourself this question, what if this idiot is wrong and shtf and your like 20,000 other people who is running around not prepared like an idiot.

@paracordjunky Sure do! Ask a couple of Q’s. 1: Do they have auto, home, life insurance? If so why? It’s because there is risk. Then ask them what are the risks for disasters in your area (Flood, tornado, hurricane, earthquake, power outage.) Then ask them how being prepared might make that easier. You can also watch the last chapter in Chris Mortenson’s “Crash Course” for some Ideas

@paracordjunky Someone who has never gone hungry for an extended period will never understand food storage until they themselves go hungry. Then they will understand it and wish they had made the effort.

I agree my friends my family all believe that there is no need to prepare they even scoff at me and roll there eyes when I talk about it. No one takes me seriously and I am not sure what to do. Any one got any suggestions???

My coworkers still think that even though things will get worse . . . that things will work out and things will be provided for them. . . so no need to prepare.

@C1I1N2 While it is true that sometimes food stores can go bad, with proper preparation and rotation, food can be stored and used efficiently without letting it expire. Most foods are good way pat there “expiration date” in fact the FDA just did a study on several types of food products and there longevity. They found that even cans of green beans that were 30 years old had similar appearance, taste, and nutritional value as one canned only a month before! So even if its says “best by”..
