pool INSTANT SURVIVAL TIP: Water storage in a swimming pool?

A backyard swimming pool is practically required here in the deserts of Phoenix.  When our nighttime temperatures hover right around 110 degrees, we desert rats seek out ways of staying cool however we can.  In addition to providing recreation and a way to keep cool, preppers view their pools as their #1 source of emergency water storage.  But with all those chemicals, how safe is it really?

I spoke with two experts, a chemist and the owner of a large pool construction company, and was surprised when they both told me the water is perfectly safe to drink!  The chemist suggested running water you intend to drink through a filter designed to remove chlorine, but that step isn’t necessary.

So, you lucky pool owners out there, your water storage is taken care of and can spend your time, money, and efforts on other preparedness steps!

One Response to “INSTANT SURVIVAL TIP: Water storage in a swimming pool?”

  1. Wayne Bennett Says:

Swimming pools are an open body of water and suseptible to all the enviromental pollutants such as benzine from diesel trucks, cars, etc. Not to mention the addition to humans in the pool and their activities. Of course chemicals such as chlorine, sulfuric acid and hydrochloric acid. None of these should be ingested on more than an accidental basis. Never as a preparedness measure. The experts we have spoke with have stated such practices will cause long term health problems.
