It’s cleaned 3 times and no pesticides are used. I’d rather pay what I pay and know it’s safe and clean. No way no how am I going to trust my health and the health of my family, in good times or bad.I get my wheat berries from the Amish for 52 cents a pound. I wouldn’t mind paying more for Amish wheat, but that is not an option where I live. But I know chemistry well and I know that pesticides do break down in time and I am not taking any risks with my health. Unless you eat nothing but organic food (which admittedly is desirable if you can manage it) you are getting pesticide residues in most of the foods that you eat.@Sherri119 We do the best that we can. Amish grain might be organically grown which is great but not necessary. I stopped by a silo in Kansas one time and talked to the manager. He said ALL their grains are treated with pesticides because otherwise they get bugs very quickly. Of course he wasn’t handling organically grown grains. Pesticides normally break down before the grains are used although there is always some residue. The oxygen absorbers prevent bugs from growing.@drewstarr71 The wheat berries sold as animal feed are great. Amish grain might be organically grown which is great but not necessary. They can get you clean, insecticide free, hard, red winter wheat for $6.35 for 25 pounds! In many areas, they will let you use their home storage center (where you buy the wheat), without being a member of their church. In some areas, you have to go with someone who’s a Mormon. You can just check about your area. They have lots of other great staples at the absolutely best price around. You need to make friends with someone who goes to the LDS church (Mormon).
